Ingredients:-
1 cup wheat flour
1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1/4th cup powdered sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4th tsp baking soda
A pinch of salt
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
1/4th tsp cardamom powder
4 tbsp milk
Method:-
1. Firstly, in a large bowl, take butter and powdered sugar. Beat the ingredients with the help of a wired whisk.
2. Further add wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt to it.( Keep in mind that if the butter is salted, then you can skip the addition of salt to it).
3. Also add vanilla essence and cardamom powder to it. Now, mix and crumble all these ingredients with your hand.
4. Further add milk to it and combine well. Keep in mind that we do not have to knead. Just combine them to form a dough. Keep it aside for 5 mins.
5. Now flatten the dough and roll it slightly thick with the help of a rolling pin. Seal the edges if cracks are formed.
6. Next, with the help of a cookie cutter, cut the cookies to its desired shape. Assemble the remaining part of the dough and prepare cookies from it.
7. Grease the baking tray. Place the cut cookies in the baking tray. Preheat the oven at 160 degree Celsius.
8. Bake the cookies at 160 degree Celsius for 15-20 minutes or till the edges of the cookies turns slightly golden in color.
9. Allow the cookies to cool. The cookies are generally soft when they are hot but they turn crunchy once cooled.
10. Wheat cookies can be served with tea or hot coffee or hot milk. You can even store them in airtight containers for at least 2-3 weeks.
